Sherry Duckworth
Dance (Job Share) [email protected] About Sherry has always had a passion for the performing arts. Whether participating in a musical play or dance production, she found joy when stepping onto a stage. Her passion for dance led her to perform and choreograph within various dance genres and eventually went on to pursue the arts in college. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance and her Masters Degree in Education from the University of California, Santa Barbara. Along with performing, Sherry was also passionate about education and incorporating the arts into the classroom setting. In 2007, she became the Dance Instructor/ Director for Temecula Valley High School. While at Temecula Valley she revamped the dance program and began the school's first co-ed performance dance teams. During her 8 years with the TVHS Dance Program, she worked with dancers of all levels and backgrounds and produced numerous dance productions. She loved helping her students find a connection to the arts, helping them to grow as performing artists, and seeing them light up the stage! Sherry has witnessed the power of the arts in the lives of students and is thrilled to be a part of the K-5 VAPA program for the second year! She believes the arts enrich a child's education and allows them to flourish as students, artists, and individuals. Known to her students as Ducky or Coach Duck, she now gets to share her passion for the arts with her K-5 dancers and help them to succeed and grow each week! Sherry is married to her husband Kyle and loves dancing with her own little movers, Layla (3) and Jackson (1)! Sarah Hermanson
Dance (Part Time) [email protected] About The performing arts have always been a passion of Sarah’s since she was young. She feels fortunate that she was able to have so many experiences growing up in music, dance and theatre. She decided to follow her passion to college where she earned her degree in Musical Theatre. Although she loved the arts, teaching was also a passion of hers! She continued going to school and earned a Multiple Subject Credential, then went on to earn her Masters in Special Education. Before there was VAPA, she loved teaching first grade, and elementary Special Education! She is thrilled to be going into her fifth year as a Dance Specialist with the VAPA team to be able to blend her passion for the arts as well as teaching! She lives in Temecula with her husband Scott, and their little girl Harper Mae (2)! Christina Jansson
Visual Arts [email protected] About Christina is thrilled to be a part of the V.A.P.A. team as a Visual Arts Educator! She loves sharing her lifelong love of art and art making with students! She works to develop students' appreciation for the art they create, as well as the art made by others. She is inspired by the beauty in nature and believes that art is everywhere. Christina holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Visual Arts from SUNY Empire State College and a Master’s Degree in Art Education from SAGE Graduate School in NY. She served as a New York State Adjudicator for the Visual Arts in 2015. Christina was the recipient of the School Board of Excellence Award in 2014 (NY) and the California Heroes Educator's Award in 2016. She is an active professional member of the California Art Education Association and the National Art Education Association. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family, creating art, going to art exhibitions, hiking and kayaking. |
Lisa Dail
Visual Art [email protected] About Lisa Dail is very excited to be a part of the V.A.P.A. team as a Visual Arts Educator. She graduated with a degree in studio art and minor in art history from the University of California, Riverside, so this is a culmination of one of her great loves. In addition, she earned her teaching credential from Cal State San Marcos and a M.A. in Reading Instruction from Grand Canyon University. She also spent a summer during her undergraduate tenure in Italy, where she studied art and jewelry making. She has been a third- and fourth-grade teacher in Temecula since 1997, spending her entire tenure in the district at Vail Elementary School. During this time, art has been a major element of her classroom and work with students, so she is excited to be able to focus on this discipline as a V.A.P.A. teacher. Lisa has been married for 28 years and has three children, all of whom spent their entire educational career in TVUSD. In her free time she enjoys spending time with her family and watching her 3-sport athlete Brenna compete. She believes art allows all children to express their feelings and ideas and allows them to be creative in their thinking. Amber Garcia
Dance (Job Share) [email protected] About Amber is excited to be joining the VAPA team as a Dance Specialist. Working with children and dance have been long standing passions of hers. After obtaining her B.S. in Kinesiology and a Single Subject Credential in Pedagogy, she taught dance at West Valley High School in Hemet and at Redondo Union High School in Redondo Beach. Amber has had the wonderful opportunity to be a stay at home mommy to her three children and be involved with their activities. She is currently a PTA board member at Rancho Elementary and a board member for Temecula Little League. She loves being a part of the extraordinary Temecula community. Amber is looking forward to teaching again and having the opportunity to share the art of dance with the great students in our Temecula elementary schools. Lisa Lozosky
Music & Movement [email protected] About Lisa has been singing, creating, and performing since she was four years old. Music is in her blood, and you can catch her singing along to just about anything--even jingles on TV commercials! Raised in an Air Force family, she was fortunate to experience the arts in many different cultures throughout her childhood, and believes strongly in arts education for everyone. Lisa earned her bachelor's degree in Communication Disorders from Missouri State University, her teaching credential from San Diego State University, and received her master's degree in Integrated Arts Education from Lesley University. She has taught in the Temecula Valley Unified School District since 1990. Initially hired as a primary classroom teacher, her love for music beckoned her to return to school to earn her single subject credential. She then spent several years as a K-5 music specialist, and is over the moon to be back at her dream job! She is beyond excited to be a part of the incredibly talented and passionate VAPA team, who are all working together to share their gifts and hearts with the children of our wonderful district. Lisa is married to her best friend, Bert. She is the proud mom of two great kids who went through the TVUSD schools, and is very excited about being a brand new grandma this year! Brenda White
Music & Movement [email protected] About Brenda White is excited to have returned to her first love, music education! She is thrilled to see the arts getting the attention they deserve once again! She has been teaching for over 30 years, 14 years in northern California and 19 years in Temecula. She counts it a privilege to be a part of Temecula’s great school district, and she is grateful for the opportunity to be a part of the students’ music education. She received her undergraduate music degree from the University of California at Los Angeles. She subsequently received her teaching credential in Music from Humboldt State University. More recently, she received her Masters of Education degree from Lesley University. She has been married 29 years and has two adult children who were fortunate enough to have attended the outstanding schools in this district. She is enjoying sharing her love of music with the students this year. She hopes that the musical seeds that are planted will continue to grow and blossom for years to come. |
